Sport is not just a physical activity but it keeps one’s mind sharp and agile. A sport inculcates comradery, it unites, it creates bonds, it makes one learn important life skills, it brings competitiveness and it helps one to lead a disciplined life. So what are the reasons to Reasons to Adopt a Sport?
Irrespective of the age, one needs to adopt a sport and if you were thinking you don’t need to play a sport, here are the compelling reasons to prove you otherwise:
1) The physical health
Well, this is a no-brainer as we all know that playing a sport will help you gain and maintain a good physical health.
The obesity among children and adults alike is a major cause of concern in today’s world. In a public funded survey in England, it was found that 19.1% of children are obese in the 10-11 age group.
I am sure you do not want to be a part of the burden and the above statistics should be an eye-opener for you to adopt a sport at the earliest!
2) Build confidence
Confidence is the key to success in life! No matter how good a person maybe academically or otherwise, but if he/she lacks in confidence, the chances of rising above the ordinary remains dim.
This aspect is very well catered to through a sport, especially a team sport. One learns to communicate well, take quick decisions, learn by mistakes, lead, win and lose.
These small learnings on the field add up to create stronger and robust personalities and help in improving the confidence of a person.
A confident graduate but academically weak person is more likely to succeed in a job interview than an academically strong but not-so-confident person!
3) Make new friends
The best part of adopting a sport is that you easily get to make new friends.
You connect with your teammates, coaches, fans, support staff and others and chances are high that you strike friendship with the like-minded people. If you had been looking to find friends, do not wait, put on your shoes and hit the ground. Sooner than later you are going to have a bunch of mates!
4) Learn life lessons
When we earn the success by winning, we know the value of true success. We know that nothing in life comes easy and free.
We have to fight for ourselves and we have to learn from the losses. A sport makes one learn to fight, remain competitive, be on the edge, remain alert and how to remain positive even after losing a game. Probably, the best lessons are not learned in the classroom, the field is the place to learn and it’s calling you!
