Bodybuilding has been around for thousands of years and it seems that no matter what the era, famous bodybuilders have always been in the public eye. Ancient Greek pottery is littered with representations of athletic, heavily muscled men, all posing in graceful stances with flexed sinews and taut stomachs.
Interestingly enough, these postures are still used today to showcase modern bodybuilders in competitions. And as far as modern bodybuilders go, they are as much a part of the public gaze as their ancient ancestors were. In fact, some of the most famous people in the world today are bodybuilders.

Known professionally as “The Rock”, Dwayne Johnson originally planned to be a professional football player and played college football for the Miami Hurricanes.
Unfortunately, he was cut from his first professional team, the Calgary Stampeders, so he turned instead to professional wrestling which was somewhat of a family trade. His father and grandfather were both professional wrestlers and it actually turned out to be a great move for Johnson. Within a few short years, he won numerous WWF and later WWE championships and gained international fame as one of the best wrestlers in the world.

Known to many simply as The Hulk, Lou Ferrigno is known the world over for his portrayal of the quick-tempered anti-hero in the late 70s TV show, The Incredible Hulk.
